About Us

The School of Electrical Engineering originated from the Department of Electrical Engineering of Jiaozuo Institute of Technology, the predecessor of China University of Mining and Technology, in 1950. In 2021, in order to further strengthen the advantages of disciplines and subjects, highlight the characteristics, and accelerate the pace of building a world-class university, the university decided to establish the School of Electrical Engineering based on the first-level discipline of electrical engineering.

The school is based on the first-level discipline of electrical engineering, covering the first-level doctoral program of electrical engineering, the interdisciplinary doctoral program of energy storage science and engineering, the doctoral professional degree category of energy and power, the undergraduate program of electrical engineering and automation, and a postdoctoral research center for electrical engineering. The second-level discipline of power electronics and electric drives is a national key discipline, and electrical engineering is a first-level key discipline of Jiangsu Province in the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" and "Fourteenth Five-Year Plan". The major of electrical engineering and automation is a national first-class undergraduate major under construction, the first batch of national characteristic majors, a national professional comprehensive reform pilot major, the Ministry of Education's "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" major, a key major in Jiangsu Province, and a brand major in Jiangsu Province.

The school has teaching and research platforms such as the National Electrical and Electronic Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, the National Key Laboratory of Intelligent Mining Equipment Technology (participation), the International Joint Research Center for New Energy Electric Vehicle Technology and Equipment of Central and Eastern European Countries, the Jiangsu Coal Mine Electrical and Automation Engineering Laboratory, and the Jiangsu Electric Drive and Automatic Control Engineering Technology Research Center. It has three teaching departments, including the Department of Power Electronics and Motors, the Department of Power Systems, and the Department of Electrical Theory and New Technology, and one experimental center.

The school currently has 95 faculty and staff members, including 78 academics, e.g., 20 professors, 37 associate professors, and 15 lecturers. There are 1,967 students of all types, including 37 full-time doctoral students, 544 full-time master's students, 51 part-time graduate students, and 1,335 undergraduates.
